Ghosts of Myself

by Thomas Rakowitz

/
1.
Entombed from above With scream of mute love Whispered hate so loud Preach to the choir's crowd Every piece so free, but never complete No puzzle to solve, no past to resolve You will not take me, no you won't take me Just let me be free Chorus: These memories that weigh me down Inside my mind I'll not drown Tear out the hooks in my heart Unbounded for a new start Graves with my name on the stone They say that this soul's a loan To a debt that can't be paid But that will be claimed This writing on the wall, can't be the tell all I can't give in, I won't let it win Chorus- Break- Join the stones Chorus-

Tongues whiplash at our backs Time marked by the whip cracks A price to pay with interest Gluttons for the tempest Stars that have seen bloodshed Ransack the lost and the dead Blank check wars to fight Turning out our own light Pre-chorus We till the consuming fire, the burning desire the human empire, a force to inspire So much hate and ire, damning all but the liar Who sold us out to our hells. We raise it higher and higher, the vermillion spire flags all up for hire, to the wealthiest buyer We walk the thin wire, now we're all satire Can't even save ourselves. Chorus- We watch it wash away For we're not here to stay The fire comes crashing down The sound's will drown Our empty words to plea With seas of apathy The price of progress rose But why no one knows Pillars pride their existence But fall with insistence Her bleeding heart's denial A world now so vile Children play with the noose How poorly we did choose Pre-chorus Chorus Break- Our empty words to plea Our empty words to plea Our empty words to bleed To fill the sea of apathy Chorus

Another night I've lost, the attraction's cost Game's I've never played, In mazes I never made Looks used to deceive, Frail masks to believe White lies to repeat, a package wrapped so neat They say I'm alive, and I will survive Misheard what they said, feels like I'm better off dead Inside comatose, cured by the right dose Urge to feel something, but numb the hurting Chorus- Lost inside my mind I try to seek and find Reaching for a sign I'll be fine Feeling it converge Imitations emerge I want to save myself this curse This medicated high, just time that I buy It's just got to give, remedy to live This purgatory creeps, while the poison seeps Keeping it inside, countless times I've lied Take all that I own, persuasion sown Promise me heaven, norepenephrine The chemicals stop, with hope's last little drop The walls never cease, to trap me and peace Chorus Chorus
4.
Every night I'm plagued, lost count times I've begged Just to rest in peace, without your disease Chorus- I still hear Your voice is near Those words empty hollow Take the pill you swallow I'm still restless at heart, wired to repeat the part Could I make you whole, with what you stole? I gave myself, you took all of me Trust in you was free, but when I sleep Chorus- When will I wake up (from these nightmares) Chorus- I still hear your voice But I've made my choice I've got to forget you Because you forgot me You forgot me x2

about

This is a collection of songs that I feel couldn't fit into my full length project entitled, "The Musings of Balance." As a set, however, they are a good representation of what is to come. Two of the tracks are actually from as far back as 2010.

This is a great sampling of what I was, what I am, and the future of my music. I hope you'll enjoy this, and that it'll help you as the songs have helped me.
