Whispered Nightmares

from Ghosts of Myself by Thomas Rakowitz

/

about

This is a track I debuted as part of my "Lucid" series of tunes. These tracks are ones that were thought of just as I was getting ready to go to sleep, and rather than counting on myself to remember them, I would get my lazy ass up, turn the mic on, and record to see where it took me.

This is also the only "improvisation" and "live drum" track, as the guitar part was improvised and the drum track is me playing along to it without any sort of click. I think this tune came out really well, and the lyrics are some of my favorites.

This is codename: "lucid chances".

lyrics

Every night I'm plagued, lost count times I've begged
Just to rest in peace, without your disease

Chorus-
I still hear
Your voice is near
Those words empty hollow
Take the pill you swallow

I'm still restless at heart, wired to repeat the part
Could I make you whole, with what you stole?
I gave myself, you took all of me
Trust in you was free, but when I sleep

Chorus-

When will I wake up (from these nightmares)

Chorus-

I still hear your voice
But I've made my choice
I've got to forget you
Because you forgot me

You forgot me x2
